Guild Wars 2: The Lost Shores (Day 3 - Finale)

It started off great. Not much lag.
...but the fun soon ended.

The rate at which the event scales is ridiculous Veterans...Veterans everywhere. Add to that close-quarters combat because you're on a ramp most of the fight. And you wind up with a lot of dead.

Finish that off with a client crash during the main event (fighting the Ancient Karka), which upon reconnect dumps you into an Overflow that has yet to even set charges and...you can imagine the frustration.

But after a bit a waiting the party started on that Overflow and the event went on with little 'brick wall'.

The result was a final battle to roast the Ancient Karka...literally --mmm, lava-fried Karka Legs.

To boot, the reward chest gave out Exotics and Rares, as well as, a 20-slot bag.

Final Verdict:

I really wish ArenaNet had tested this event. It would not have been hard to setup a bot system to duplicate 40+ players in a local area casting and doing what not. This would have made the first event much better (seriously 5-10 second AUTO ATTACK).

They desperately needed to test Phase 2. Three of the four NPCs required by that phase were bugged; two of which completely didn't work (Noll and Canach). They also needed to better communicate what was going on. Most didn't even know about the siege weapons being built until half-way through the event. Even then, the siege weapon building would glitch-out and the progress would stop. Leaving many wondering what the hell was going on.

Couple that with the fact that the event had staggered start times....you could literally log out at the start of the event (for your instance) and log back into one that had all ready finished it.

Final Score:
4*/10

*if things had been properly tested this event would have easily scored an '8'.

...Here's to December's event.

Guild Wars 2: The Lost Shores (Day 2)

Personally, I think the two events that have happened (Halloween and Lost Shores) have been poorly executed.

I should not have to go look up a guide to figure out where to go. The clues in Halloween's event were so vague that unless you specifically knew the entire map (up, down, forwards, and backwards) you were lost.

For the Lost Shore it was much the same, but this was caused by the fact that the events are bugged as crap. But at least this time Anet mailed the locations on where to go. With clues to pinpoint the location ("southern portion of Viathan Lake"; excellent clue much better than the ones given during Halloween).

I believe it was an extremely *poor* decision to make this event Guild War 2's first ever 'Free Trial Period'. With the lag and the bugged Events...you [AreaNet] have effectively proven your game is not worth the $60, and most that came will probably not stay.

You should have tested this event down to the very core, as you have ruined your first impression on new-comers.

-BTW: I'm not a free-trial person, but I know I would look and see that this game is "beta quality" and not take the time to look beyond this event and see that much of the game is actually quite stable. This was essentially AreaNet's interview and they showed up unshaven with 'messy' hair.

I urge AreaNet, who probably won't even read this, to thoroughly test any December Event they have planned and re-issue the 'Free Trial Keys' that are good for a solid 7-days, to give new-comers the chance to experience a 'fun event', and the actual game.

Well see how tomorrow goes....hopefully Noll will spawn sometime this year.....

UPDATE: It appears that Noll is now fixed. The end reward is a Jug of Karma, but keep your 'Trophy' items, for me it was the Map, Soggy Bag, and Survey Report from Canach, just in case there's suppose to be more.

Guild Wars 2: The Lost Shores (Day 1)

For a brief time, Guild Wars 2, became turn-based. With auto-attacks taking anywhere between 5 and 10 seconds to 'fire off'.

Followed by finding out, Subdirector Noll, is bugged and not spawning on Borlis Pass server.

Hopefully a fix is done before this phase of the event is over...
